Snoochie Boochies: Clerks III Gets a Trailer and Release Date

Trevor Fehrman, Brian O'Halloran, Rosario Dawson, and Jeff Anderson return for Kevin Smith's Clerks III

The 90s are back, or at least the people who love them are. Kevin Smith is making Clerks a trilogy – no word yet on if we’re getting Ewoks.

This time around Randal Graves (Jeff Anderson) steps out of the second banana role. After a life-threatening medical crisis, Randal decides it’s time to stop movies and start making them. He gathers up a rag tag crew to capture a story of his life as… a convenience store clerk.

Check out the trailer below.

The 90s are back, and so is meta filmmaking, apparently. Though Smith has become somewhat more sentimental as he matured as a filmmaker (Randal and Dante would have had an epic rant on Jersey Girl no doubt), it’s nice to see him going back to the characters that first put him on the map. I fear the film will probably lapse into nostalgia-porn instead of sticking to its meta roots, but hey, at least Mr. Jennifer Lopez has a cameo!

While the story might not break the ground the 1994 original did, Smith certainly has a fanbase that supports him in his filming endeavors. His fanbase is so powerful in fact that Smith has his own ways of marketing his movies. Partnering with Lionsgate, Clerks III will be released September 13 through 18 as part of the Fathom Events in theaters. After that, you’ll be able to pick up a copy to watch at home.
